Use sizes for packs with separate prices
Use product sizes or variants for options such as Single, Half Dozen, and Dozen when they need different prices or stock. In Create product, configure them in Price & choices. Give each size a clear name, price, and availability.
Choose the right customer-choice setup
Customize an item: select a flavor or other characteristic of one item.
Add extras: offer optional additions to an item.
Fill a box: let the customer select the contents of a fixed box. Set the required selection count, including size-specific rules when needed.
Choose quantities: sell independently priced quantities of several choices.
Use existing products: build a menu from existing products and their saved sizes, retaining their prices and stock.
Use Try your choices to check totals and selection limits. Product forms collect instructions or other answers.
Map packs to recipe amounts
In Recipes & Costs, define Recipe for one item for one individual item first. Then set Items in each size or pack: 1 for a single, 3 for a three-pack, 6 for a six-pack, or 12 for a dozen. Choose Save option quantities. The size name alone never changes production quantity. One per-item recipe supports all pack sizes; do not duplicate recipe groups for packs. Ingredients scale with item count, while packaging is charged once per sale. Review Costs & suggested prices by size or pack before applying a price.
Recipe quantities are not inventory quantities. Setting 6 or 12 items per pack scales costs and production planning, but does not make a purchased pack deduct 6 or 12 items from a shared stock balance.
Choose the inventory scope
Untracked products and choices have no stock limit. Tracked simple stock applies to the product; variant stock applies to the selected size. Planner can also limit published choices and Specific Date/Drop occurrences. The applicable limits must all allow the purchase.
A tracked balance of zero is sold out. A menu using existing products consumes its linked products’ stock, with no extra menu stock demand. Check whether sizes share product stock or use independent variant stock before setting limits.
Pack limits count packs, not individual items inside them. For fixed-price Single, Half Dozen, and Dozen variants, product, variant, and Planner limits do not automatically share one per-item balance across those pack sizes. A limit of 20 packs will not enforce a 20-item cap for a flavor. Do not use a pack limit as a per-item safeguard.
Common problems
Every pack has the same recipe cost: review units per sale for each size.
A box accepts the wrong number of choices: review exact, minimum, maximum, repeat, increment, and size-specific rules.
Stock remains but the item cannot be ordered: check the choice and occurrence limits as well as product status and schedule.
