Plan availability: Pro. Order Deposits require Pro. Automatic balance collection additionally requires a vaulted Square customer card. The active production feature matrix is authoritative if an administrator changes an entitlement.
Enable deposits
- Open Checkout Settings.
- Open Payments & tips.
- Enable deposits.
- Choose Charge deposit by default or full payment.
- Choose a fixed amount or percentage and configure the balance due timing.
What the customer pays
The deposit reduces the amount due now. It does not change the order subtotal, tax, discounts, or remaining schedule. A gift card or store credit redemption can reduce the current payment, but it does not rewrite the remaining schedule.
Common problems
- Automatic balance collection requires both autoCollect and a saved customer payment profile and method.
- Deposit balance reminders use due-date lead times, not immediate unpaid-order lead times.
- If a schedule is already overdue, missed upcoming reminders are not replayed.
