What Recipes & Costs does

Open Recipes & Costs to see product costs, recipe assignments, margins, warnings, and stale storefront ingredient declarations. The feature has focused areas for Products, Recipes, Ingredients, and Plan a bake.

  1. Create ingredients or supplies with package prices.
  2. Build reusable library recipes with a positive yield.
  3. Assign a recipe or direct ingredient groups to a product.
  4. Set packaging, labor, overhead, and target margin.
  5. Review cost warnings and apply a price only when you are ready.
  6. Use Plan a bake to aggregate selected orders and build a shopping estimate.

What it does not do

Recipe costing does not silently change your storefront price. It also does not replace order-time production snapshots: bake planning rounds batches for planning, while fulfillment consumes exact order-time requirements.

Common problems

  • Product still sells without costing: that is supported; unassigned products use their manual cost fallback.
  • Suggested price is disabled: resolve missing ingredient prices, densities, conversions, or variant mappings.
  • Customer ingredient copy is old: publish the storefront ingredient declaration after reviewing recipe changes.
