Open the product recipe
Open Recipes & Costs > Product recipes and choose Recipe & label setup for your product.
Start with one individual item
The Recipe for one item section describes one individual item, such as one cookie. Sizes and packs multiply that amount separately. Do not create another recipe group just to represent a larger pack.
If a saved recipe makes 10 cookies and one individual product is one cookie, enter 1 cookie in Amount per individual item. This is an amount of the recipe's output, not a fraction of its batch: 0.1 cookie means one tenth of a cookie, not one of ten cookies.
Attach or change a saved recipe
For a product without a recipe, choose Use a saved recipe, select the recipe, and enter Amount per individual item. Choose Add product recipe.
For an existing product recipe, find the saved-recipe line under Recipe for one item. Review the selected recipe, its output unit, and the sentence explaining what each individual item uses.
Change the amount if needed, then choose Save product recipe. The adjacent recipe link opens the reusable recipe in a new tab.
For products with sizes or packs, set Items in each size or pack and choose Save option quantities.
Review the saved costs and warnings. Apply a suggested selling price separately.
Enter familiar full-batch quantities
Choose Edit batch ingredients to work with a whole production batch. Enter the number of individual items in How many individual items does this batch make?, then enter the ingredient amounts for that entire batch. For example, 100 g of an ingredient in a 10-cookie batch becomes 10 g per cookie.
Saved-recipe lines in this view say Amount for all 10 items in this batch when the batch makes 10 items. With one cookie of recipe output per item, that field shows 10 cookies for the full batch. Choose Back to per-item recipe to review the individual amount. Switching views alone does not change the recipe; save after editing amounts.
On a first saved-recipe assignment, the production batch is initialized from the saved recipe's yield divided by the amount per individual item. A 10-cookie recipe used at 1 cookie per item starts with a 10-item batch. Replacing a recipe does not overwrite an existing production batch size; review it in batch view when your preparation changes.
Save before using new costs
While recipe edits are unsaved, the cost summary still uses the saved recipe and price-application controls are disabled. Use Save product recipe, then review the updated Cost for one individual item and the costs for each size or pack.
What customers see
Attaching or changing a recipe changes operational cost calculations. It does not automatically publish a new ingredient statement or change the storefront price.
Common problems
An older amount looks too small: existing fractional usage is retained. Check the displayed unit and usage sentence before deliberately correcting it; the update does not silently change saved quantities.
Recipe option is missing: check whether the recipe is archived. Unarchived draft and ready recipes can be selected; resolve ingredient and cost warnings before relying on the result.
Costs are incomplete: follow warnings for ingredient prices, density, conversions, or size mappings.
A flavor or extra uses different ingredients: use customer choice ingredient rules for that choice. Pack counts belong in the size or pack mappings.
