Open Plan a bake
Plan a bake begins by selecting the orders to combine into production and shopping quantities.
From Recipes & Costs > Plan a bake, choose the orders you expect to make together. The page shows selected orders before building the projection.
Select the relevant open orders.
Review Products to make and total sellable units.
Review rounded Recipe batches, ingredient demand, tracked on-hand balances, shortages, packages to buy, and estimated spend.
Download the prep & shopping PDF when the projection is complete.
Plan a bake rounds each reusable recipe once for planning. Fulfillment does not use those rounded amounts; it consumes exact order-time production snapshots.
Check individual items and production batches
Before taking new orders, set each product recipe for one individual item and save Items in each size or pack. Two six-packs require 12 individual cookies, not two cookies or twelve full recipes.
Use Edit batch ingredients in the product recipe to review How many individual items does this batch make?. A recipe that makes 10 cookies and is used at 1 cookie per item starts a new assignment with a 10-item production batch. Existing batch sizes are retained when a recipe is replaced, so review them if your preparation changes.
Keep exact ordered items separate from rounded recipe batches. An existing order’s production snapshot is not silently rewritten when you edit today’s recipe.
What customers see
Nothing changes on the storefront when you build a bake plan. It is an internal production and shopping view.
Common problems
The plan cannot be built: set up each product’s recipe and costs, then refresh.
Demand is higher than expected: check variant units-per-sale and product choice rules and retained form conditions.
Stock is not deducted as expected: planning reads tracked pantry balances; fulfillment consumption is a separate order-completion event.
A completed order is missing: review the order selection and any snapshot/reconciliation warning.
Print labels for the selected orders
Choose Print labels to carry the same selected orders into Label Studio. Review product-label assignments, package and piece counts, label paper, and the made-on date before generating PDFs.
Label quantities use exact purchased packages and captured production pieces; they do not use the rounded recipe batches in the bake plan. Printing does not fulfill orders or deduct inventory. Label Studio requires Pro, while Plan a bake remains available on Free. Follow the label printing guide.
