Open Copilot
Choose Ask Copilot at the right end of the bar along the bottom of the dashboard. Copilot is the dashboard assistant: it answers questions about how a page works, looks up information from your shop, and can prepare changes for you to approve. Type in the box (Enter sends, Shift+Enter adds a line) and ask in plain language, for example which orders are due Saturday? or turn on tipping at checkout.
Choose where it sits
On a desktop, the Copilot placement control in the panel header offers three positions: Float over the page (a movable window you can drag, with Recenter if it drifts off screen), Dock to the side (a column on the right; the dashboard shrinks to make room), and Dock to the bottom (a strip along the bottom). Your choice is remembered in this browser. Expand opens the conversation as a full page. On a phone, Copilot opens over the page; docking is a desktop option.
Approve changes before they happen
When you ask Copilot to change something, it shows a Review and approve this change card that lists exactly what will be saved. Choose Approve to finish the change now, or Decline to leave it as a saved draft you can apply later from the page itself. Nothing in your shop changes until the owner approves it, and several linked changes are approved or declined together.
Some steps cannot happen inside a chat: uploading files, signing in to Square or Google, verifying DNS, paying at checkout, and entering secrets. Copilot hands those off with a link to the right page and picks up again afterwards.
Keep and reopen conversations
Conversations are saved to your account. Use the conversation list in the panel header to reopen an earlier chat or start a new one, and delete a chat you no longer need. If an answer is wrong, use its feedback control (What was off?) to tell us.
What Copilot can and cannot see
It works with your current shop and the page you are on, and reads the same records the dashboard shows you.
It never asks for card numbers, passwords, or other secrets in the chat, and it cannot approve a change on your behalf.
It follows your plan: a change that needs a higher plan is explained rather than applied.
Common problems
Ask Copilot is missing from the bottom bar. Copilot is turned on per account; contact support from Help & support if you expected it.
The panel covers what I am working on. Switch to Dock to the side or Dock to the bottom, or drag the floating window aside.
I approved a change but the page looks the same. Reload the page. The result also appears in the chat with a link to the record.
