Plan availability: Free. Square defaults are Free. Ordering enabled alternative methods requires Pro access to those methods. The active production feature matrix is authoritative if an administrator changes an entitlement.
Change the display order
In Payments, arrange Credit/Debit, Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, Cash App, and Cash. This controls the selector display order across checkout, quotes, digital checkout, manual orders, and payment links.
Choose the checkout default
The explicit default is separate from display order. If no explicit default exists, checkout chooses Credit/Debit when usable, then the first enabled manual method, then no selection.
Common problems
- Reordering methods does not automatically set the first method as the default.
- A saved default can become invalid when the method is disabled; checkout must fall back safely.
- Keep the same saved order across payment links, quotes, manual orders, and mobile order surfaces.
