Use Payments for how money arrives
Open Payments to connect Square, choose the payment location, review card readiness, enable manual methods, and set payment method priority.
Use Checkout for what customers agree to
Open Checkout Settings for fulfillment, fees, shipping, delivery date/time collection, deposits, tipping, reminders, terms, and payment-plan behavior.
Common problems
- Changing payment display order does not necessarily change the initial selected payment method.
- A connected Square account may not be card-ready.
- Shipping, delivery, deposits, and tips can be independently gated even when Square checkout works.
