Connect after your custom address is active
Open Dashboard > Settings > Google after your custom domain shows active routing and SSL. Cottage CMS subdomains are submitted automatically; this connection is primarily for your own domain and its Search Console property.
Plan availability: Google Search & Business is Pro in the active matrix. An active custom domain is also required for the own-domain Search Console flow. Scale and Legacy Lifetime inherit their configured access; Google’s own approval and indexing timelines still apply.
Connect and submit
- Use the Google account that owns, or should own, the Search Console property for the exact domain.
- Select Connect Google, sign in, and choose Select all or approve every requested permission.
- Return to the dashboard and review Google Connection status and the verified site URL.
- Choose Submit sitemap after the connection is verified or after a major public structure change.
- Use Reconnect Google when permissions expire, the account changes, or the property no longer matches the active domain.
What customers see
Customers do not see your OAuth connection. They see the public domain and the business information that Google may use to build search and Business Profile results. A connection helps Google discover and verify; it does not guarantee a position, review count, or instant indexing.
Common problems
- Google says the property is not verified. Confirm the active domain and grant all requested permissions, then reconnect.
- The Google page says a custom domain is required. Finish Website Address setup and wait for routing and SSL to show active.
- The sitemap submission fails. Check the connection status, current domain, and public sitemap, then retry after correcting the underlying issue.
- Business Profile is not editable here. The dashboard section is currently a read-only scaffold pending Google API approval; maintain profile details in Google until that changes.
