Make checkout match your real workflow
Open Dashboard > Settings > Checkout before sharing your storefront. Checkout is the promise customers accept, so use the same pickup, delivery, payment, lead-time, and cancellation language that your team can actually honor.
Plan availability: Square checkout, standard pickup fulfillment, customer records, and automated email notifications are Free. Delivery, shipping, deposits, tips, reminders, and external payments follow the active plan matrix. Pro and Scale unlock their configured paid controls; Legacy Lifetime retains all platform features.
Review each checkout section
- In Pickup experience, choose whether pickup is enabled, what contact fields are required, and whether customers select a date or time.
- Use Market checkout only when customers need a public stand or event checkout path separate from the product catalog.
- In Delivery and Shipping, make sure the plan allows the method, the product is eligible, fees are understandable, and service areas are accurate.
- In Payments & tips, explain full payment, deposits, balance due dates, tips, and any processing fee before confirmation.
- Review Terms of Sale and the required contact information. Ask only for details you need to fulfill the order.
- Enable pickup or payment reminders only after choosing lead times that are useful rather than noisy.
What customers see
Customers see the enabled fulfillment methods, required fields, payment choices, fees, terms, and confirmation instructions. A clear confirmation should still make sense when a customer reads it at pickup without opening the dashboard.
Common problems
- Pickup is enabled but no dates appear. Pickup schedules are configured in Planner; Checkout controls how customers choose from the available schedule.
- Shipping is available for the wrong item. Every cart item must be marked Available for shipping, and the selected plan may limit shipping reach.
- Customers are surprised by a fee or balance. Put the amount, due date, and collection method in the checkout copy and test the confirmation email.
- The form is too long. Move item-specific details to product forms and remove checkout fields that do not change fulfillment.
