Review the impact before confirming
Open Billing & Subscription and choose the plan action only after reviewing the warning. Paid access normally remains active through the current billing period, then the lower plan’s gates apply.
Plan availability: Free keeps the standard storefront and Free features, including theme customization under the active matrix. Pro-only domains, blank pages, blog posts, media, Analytics, Google, QR codes, and trackable links can stop working or stop being public. Scale-only Custom CSS and domain-branded email can stop at the lower plan. Legacy Lifetime is not a saleable downgrade target.
Check the important consequences
- Review whether a mapped custom domain will stop serving the storefront on Free.
- Review whether domain-branded email will stop receiving or routing messages. The hosted Cottage CMS mailbox remains a separate fallback.
- Confirm which paid content stays stored but becomes unavailable to public visitors.
- Export important data and save any copy you need before changing plans.
- Confirm the Free downgrade when the warning matches your decision.
What customers see
Customers may be redirected to the Cottage CMS address after a custom-domain service stops. A blank page or paid marketing tool may no longer be reachable even though its record remains in the account. Test the public storefront after the plan change.
Common problems
- The downgrade button is not available. Cancel a scheduled plan change or resolve the required confirmation first.
- My domain renewal is still listed. Managed domain registration and renewal are separate services with their own billing and registrar terms.
- Mail stopped after the downgrade. Domain-branded receiving follows the domain email entitlement; use hosted email while deciding what to restore.
- I changed my mind. Use the billing action to cancel a scheduled change before the effective date when available.
