Customize the automatic reply to a contact inquiry

Control the confirmation email subject and body, preview the result, or turn the reply off.

Open the form that receives the inquiry

For the built-in Contact form, open Pages, edit the Contact page, and open its Contact Form settings. For a saved contact form, open that form in Forms and review its notification settings.

First confirm which form the Contact page displays. Its Form to display selection determines which form's settings apply.

Set the automatic reply

  1. Enable the automatic reply switch if customers should receive a confirmation email.
  2. Enter Email subject and Email body. Write plain text; line breaks are preserved.
  3. Use {{customer_name}}, {{business_name}}, and {{subject}} when you want to personalize the copy.
  4. Open Preview confirmation email to check sample output before saving.
  5. Save the page or form that owns these settings.

Leave either field blank to use its default. The default acknowledges the inquiry without promising a particular response time. Include your own response window only when it matches your policy.

Example body

Hi {{customer_name}},

Thanks for contacting {{business_name}} about {{subject}}. We have received your message. We review custom-order requests on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will reply after reviewing the details.

Adjust this example to your actual schedule before using it.

Turn replies off

Disable the automatic reply switch and save when you do not want this confirmation sent. The on-page success message is separate from the email body.

What these controls change

These fields control email copy. They do not configure a custom sender address, logo, or email color theme. The preview shows the current shared email layout with sample details.
